Bret Michaels’ Life Rocks Foundation is now accepting 2013 applications to send children with diabetes to summer camp.
In what has become an annual event, the Bret Michaels Life Rocks Foundation is currently accepting applications to send children diagnosed and living with diabetes to summer camp during the 2013 camp season. At the age of 6 years old Bret was diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes and remains committed to not only helping to find a cure for the disease, but also to educate adults and children on how to manage diabetes in an effort to live a productive life. Diabetes can be difficult to comprehend at first especially for those newly diagnosed and by sending children to diabetes camp, Bret’s mission is simple:
“To help children learn how to monitor and control their blood sugar, to not let the disease control them.Just let kids go be kids, let them make new friends and relate to other kids going through the same thing they are, helping them to realize they aren’t alone”.
The Bret Michaels Life Rocks Foundation attempts to send as many children to camp as possible each year. However, due to increased volume of application submissions we advise that you submit your child’s application quickly as these camps tend to fill up fast.
How can you submit your child’s application?
1) Choose a diabetes camp in your area that has a registered 501(c)3 status. If you can’t find a camp or need help, contact your local American Diabetes Association (ADA) office by visiting http://www.diabetes.org and they should be able to help you find a camp.
2) Once you have chosen a camp, please obtain the camp’s registration forms and fill them out completely. Next, scan the registration forms and e-mail them with the subject line ”2013 Diabetes Camp” to patrick@michaelsnation.com
Please do not submit the registration forms to the camp, send them only to Patrick at this time.
Upon review, you will be contacted by the Life Rocks Foundation and will receive further instructions on when to submit the forms to the camp.
**When you are seeking out a camp, please remember to make certain that the camp is a registered 501(c)3 before you apply with the Life Rocks Foundation. Also, when submitting your child’s application to the Life Rocks Foundation please remember to make sure the application is attached and that you have included your name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address.
Lastly, for those who would like to donate to the Bret Michaels Life Rocks Foundation and help send children with diabetes to summer camp, your very much appreciated donation can be made by clicking HERE.
We look forward to another great year, another year of smiles and another year of helping children and adults.
Best Regards,
The Bret Michaels Life Rocks Foundation Team
