Rock Star Bret Michaels Opens Hospitality Room at St. Joseph's Barrow Neurological Institute -- Posted by NewsAdmin on Tuesday, October 9 2012
Rock Star Bret Michaels Opens Hospitality Room at St. Joseph's Barrow Neurological Institute
(Oct. 9, 2012, Phoenix AZ) - Bret Michaels, multiplatinum rocker, reality star, philanthropist, entrepreneur and former patient at St. Joseph's Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, today officially opened the Bret Michaels' Hospitality and Music Room inside the hospital.
The room, which has been under construction for nearly a year, is located near patients rooms and features relaxation areas for patients and their families. It is decorated with a music theme and features many of Bret's personal music memorabilia as well as never-before-seen inspirational photographs from his life and work.
"This is an incredible day for me," says Michaels. "I'm thrilled to be able to give something back to the hospital that helped to save my life, and to the Barrow patients and their families. As someone who has spent his fair share of time in hospitals over the past few years, I know how necessary it is for both patients and their loved ones to have a fun, welcoming place to recharge -- and I designed this music and hospitality room to be that place."
In 2010, Michaels was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center suffering from a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening type of stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain. The hemorrhage left the musician in critical condition and he remained hospitalized at Barrow for the duration of his treatment. Joseph's is the home of Barrow Neurological Institute and Michaels was treated by Barrow neurosurgeons.
After being released from Barrow, Michaels made a rapid recovery and went on to win Celebrity Apprentice in 2010 and enjoy a successful national concert tour. He then returned to St. Joseph's in 2011 to undergo a heart procedure to close a hole in his heart.

Bret Michaels Rocks out to Raise Awareness at PINKTOBER Breast Cancer Benefit -- Posted by Patrick on Saturday, September 29 2012
For Bret, rocking out and raising awareness go hand in hand and last night he lead the charge to help find a cure by performing at the PINKTOBER breast cancer awareness event in Orlando, Florida at Velvet Sessions at Hard Rock Hotel Orlando / Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Orlando. Bret's performance was the only event sold out on their calendar to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month.
In honor of the occasion Bret swapped his usual stage lights for pink ones, and dedicated his hit inspirational song, "Something To Believe In" to the breast cancer survivors in the audience. Bret further honored victims of breast cancer by bringing survivors onstage. Bret has long used his music and celebrity as a way to help give back to a number of causes- from Diabetes to St. Judes Childrens Hospital- and with Breast Cancer Awareness Month right around the corner, Bret was honored to be able to raise awareness for PINKTOBER and support the cause in any way he could.
As a lifelong Diabetic, Bret has faced his own health challenges. Diabtetes is another cause close to Bretís heart. Aside being a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association, Bret also gives through his Life Rocks Foundation, and raised over $250,000 for the cause with his 2010 win on Celebrity Apprentice. Bret was recently voted fans all-time favorite Celebrity Apprentice on the Apprentice facebook page. Check it out below and weigh in on how Bret stood out!

BRET MICHAELS APPLAUDS TAYLOR SWIFT ON HER SONG "RONAN" -- Posted by Patrick on Friday, September 14 2012
BRET MICHAELS APPLAUDS TAYLOR SWIFT ON HER SONG "RONAN"
Bret Michaels states "I cannot compliment Taylor enough on her heartfelt song entitled "Ronan" written and inspired by blogs by Maya Thompson whose son Ronan passed away from Neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer. I find Taylor an amazing person who donated her time talent and soul to write a song that everyone should listen to and has chosen to donate the profits to help childhood cancer." Bret continues..." I take it very personally because I have known Maya and her family and their nonstop effort and inner strength to help find a cure for this horrific disease. Maya and I have had numerous conversations about Ronan passing and the emotional toll it takes on her and her family and what we can do to help others. It is one of the main reasons I work so hard to help other children with cancer, like 5 year old Ava Holder who passed away in May from Neuroblastoma. I met Ava and her mom Chrisie at my daughter Jorja's Fun Run and we quickly bonded and became friends. Both her and Maya's strength and resolve to make a difference in other families lives after their own personal tragedies inspires me. It is why I continue to raise awareness and funds to help other children and families fight this battle. This is very real and close to me and as a father of two daughters I have made it a personal mission of mine to help raise millions of dollars and awareness in the battle against childhood cancer including working with St. Judes Children's Hospital, The Eric Trump Foundation and my Life Rocks Foundation."
Michaels rep Janna Elias states, "Bret, who is an extremely charitable person and a lifelong Type 1 Diabetic, has been ask by Donald Trump to return to Celebrity Apprentice All Star's in support of his Life Rocks Foundation which will contribute all money raised to be equally divided between 4 causes; Diabetes, Cancer, Wounded Warriors and no kill pet shelters." Michaels states "if Ronan and Ava could fight so bravely knowing they could lose their battle in life, I can surely go back to apprentice - win or lose and fight with everything I've got to help contribute money and awareness to these great causes. "
Michaels' rep continues, "Bret has given a big part of himself to the hospital that saved his life by sponsoring and creating the Bret Michaels Music and Hospitality Room at St. Joseph/Barrows Neurological Center in Phoenix where he was treated not only for his heart surgery but for his life threatening brain hemorrhage."
The Bret Michaels Music and Hospitality Room is set to open October 9th 2012 and will feature the Ronan and Ava playroom as part of the suite. Michaels will be on hand for the grand opening.
